July 15, 2009 At ~ 9:30am on July 15th a logging truck fully loaded with logs rolled over about 200 yards east of the Eagle Lake Causeway. Fortunately the only vehicle involved was the logging truck itself, and the driver only sustained minor injuries and was released from the hospital a few hours later. Both the truck and it's load fortunately stayed well out of the lake, and a NYS DEC spill response team quickly arrived to ensure that none of the leaking diesel fuel ended up in the lake. A contamination clean-up crew arrived and has begun clean up of the fuel and the removal of contaminated soil from the scene. One lane of Rt. 74 was closed for most of the day while clean up efforts were underway. Many thanks to our local emergency responders, RB Motors, and the NYS DEC for arriving as quickly as they did.
Please see our photos of the accident as well as the Times of Ti newspaper article.
