August 1, 2008
A car accident occurred on Eagle Lake in front of Jim Shultz's property. There were no injuries reported, however traffic was slowed for about 2 hours. Thanks to the local first responders who came to assist.
An additional 3600lbs of ballast steel has been delivered to the lake. This will allow an additional 24,000 sq feet of benthic mats to be constructed and placed. Volunteers are needed to help assemble this summer's mats. These mats will be in addition to the approximately 24,000 sq feet of mats already in the lake. These will be removed and redeployed this summer as well. Volunteers are also needed to chase milfoil fragments created as the mats are placed. Please give the work crews space as you recreate on the lake this summer. Safety for all is our highest concern. Thanks again to Hyde's Boat and RV for the donation/loan of their 24' work pontoon boat to this project.
July 2008
July 30, 2008 The towns of Ticonderoga in cooperation with the ELPOI has secured permits to hand harvest and place benthic barriers in waters under 2 meters. There is no expiration date on the permit as long as a yearly progress report is filed with the APA. This now allows divers to work in any area of the lake.

July 24, 2008 Permit applications were submitted to the APA to allow hand harvesting/matting in waters less than 2 meters.
July 20, 2008 The Board has voted to resume matting of milfoil in Eagle Lake based on their feeling that the Beneficial Use Determination, from the NYS DEC, for the use of mill wire as a benthic barrier in Eagle Lake is sufficient to remove all doubts as to it's safe use in the lake.
